/goal cheat sheet: let Claude Code run until it's actually done

The one-line condition, the three things it needs, and the trap that stops people using it.

Set a goal

After every turn a separate model checks your condition. Not met yet? Claude keeps going.

/goal all tests in test/auth pass and lint is clean, or stop after 20 turns

Write a condition the output can prove

The checker only reads the conversation, it never runs commands. Give it a measurable result, a clear check such as whether npm test exits 0, and a constraint such as not editing other test files.

Always add a stop sentence

Add something like "or stop after 20 turns". The goal also clears itself when the condition is met, when it is judged impossible, or when you hit an error only you can fix.

Check status or cancel

Run /goal alone to see status. Run /goal clear to cancel.

Watch out: /goal does not change your permission mode. To avoid being asked about every command, use it in Auto mode.
